About Dan

Dan's graduation from USC

Dan Flores was born and raised in Colton, CA – the son of parents who also grew up in Colton. His grandfather, Toby Flores, immigrated to Colton during World War II as a bracero and eventually owned and operated Toby’s Market, a small grocery store in the predominantly Hispanic community of South Colton. His grandparents’ sacrifice and hard work paved the way for future generations to find success. Dan’s father retired after 44 years with Stater Bros. Markets and his mother retired from the County of San Bernardino after 20 years of service.

Growing up in a working class family, Dan learned the values of hard work, education, and the importance of family. After graduating from Colton High School with honors, Dan attended Georgetown University on scholarship. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown and then went on to earn two more graduate degrees – a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California.

In his tenure with the Supervisor, Dan has worked closely with local residents, community groups, and businesses to help deliver projects and programs to benefit the residents of Colton, Fontana, Rialto, San Bernardino, and the unincorporated communities of Bloomington and Muscoy.

Dan and his wife, Abby, live in Colton with their sons, Toby and Leo. Dan is invested in the local community as a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Native Sons of the Golden West.
